The power hitter:
1. Creates a slight upswing but not an uppercut or a loop in his swing;
2. Directs his power swings to the area between left center and right center;
3. Does not try to lift the ball;
4. Finishes long;
5. Waits for the right pitch.

Most young baseball hitters, because of fear of the ball, tend to “bail out” of the box. Setting depth and distance in the preceding manner lessens this tendency and leaves the player better prepared to hit a curve ball.
